Sound Bust (2014)
Materials: CNC milled Styrofoam, air-dry clay, oil paints, Arduino controlled ultra-sonic sensor and mp3 player
Size: 20”H X 20”W X 10” D
This bust has a sensor embedded in it that detects if someone approaches. When the viewer is within certain proximity, the bust emits sounds. A video of the interaction can be viewed here

This is a human-sized minimal robot, with articulation at the waist, arms and neck. A motor at the waist induces the chest to sway up and down in a breathing motion. When a viewer approaches, she turns her head towards them. This GIF documents her motions.

This minimal robot exhibits a slow breathing motion. When it detects motion near its field of view, it starts breathing faster.
